KKNK (EASTER HOLIDAYS)
The Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (Afrikaans for Little Karoo National Arts Festival and usually abbreviated to KKNK) is an Afrikaans language arts festival that takes place yearly in the South African town of Oudtshoorn. The festival includes both the visual and the performing arts and is officially recognized by the South African government as a national arts festival. Based on the number of visitors, it is also the largest South African arts festival.
Prince Albert Olive and Food Festival (APRIL/MAY)
Two days of foodie fun seasoned with a liberal helping of arts, crafts, history and culture. Whether you want to be the olive pip spitting champion of the Great Karoo or you just want to savour the taste of organic olive paste on warm, homemade bread straight from the oven, the Prince Albert Olive Festival is for you.
Redstone Mountain Mountainbiking (SECOND WEEKEND IN MAY)
Redstone is a never-to-be-forgotten experience – cyclists and runners are able to spend a full weekend with their families in the unique Red Mountains enjoying the hospitality of Calitzdorp, its people and its magnificent surroundings. There are activities and delicious food throughout the weekend for everyone in the family.
On Friday evening, after the night ride and fun run, there is a potjiekos dinner with live music.
On Saturday socialise in the beer garden and enjoy the “plaasbasaar”. Live music is played.
